The very first street musician who got me interested in the whole idea of doing that was Paul Mack, a blues-eyed soul singer and killer sax player back in NYC. He fronted a group called Mr. Thing and the Professional Human Beings who rocked the downtown scene for a while. I saw him in Central Park one afternoon back in 1984 with William Galison on harp. Incredibly sweet and soulful music.
He's back, these many decades later, with a duo called The Fabulous Mellowtones. The harp player calls himself Manew Blew, but I believe his real name is Emmanuel Frangeul. They're way under the radar, but I love what they do. We're working on making them a part of the Mr. Satan 80th Birthday Party on May 20. I may play a gig with them before that.
Here are a few clips:

I was wondering why the second one sounded so much like you Adam. Then i read the song title Cissy Strut. I was never really interested in that song. But after hearing it done in a band context like that ... That Tradebit lesson is now on my short list of songs to learn.
What's he using to get that effect. POG? Pitch shifter? ----------
