Agreed. The Manji Combs are AWFUL!

I can make them playable with flatsanding. But then ofcourse all four sides are recessed in a bit. The only one that bothers me is the front ofcourse, but still.

Ill go one step further and say Mr.Manji please install Toms Hogany combs stock on your Manjis from now on.

I view the manji as a reedplate & cover set with a Bonus free throw away comb. Its a very inventive material, but it needs updating and attention to flatness.

Is anyone a fan of combs that recess in the front?

Im going to have to revisit my promaster one of these days here soon. I dismissed it pretty quickly. Maybe it can be saved.

@Piro39 Yes, it's true about the Manji minors--they are tuned to first position, maybe somebody likes that but not the players used to second position who want to transfer that knowledge to an altered tuned instrument!
I personally conveyed that knowledge to the Japanese at NAMM last year, but they don't seem to understand (or care?). I wish I could communicate more frequently with the Japanese company, but I work for their US distributor, so I play by their rules.
As far as combs, like I said earlier in this thread, I understand how some folks are drawn to customs--I have a single custom comb, and like it, but don't have the budget to replace them in the majority of my working instruments.
When I find a bum one, I fix it--but I don't sand aluminum combs, that's for sure!
Suzuki warranty is one year, if you have a bum comb, call 800-854-1594 and we will make it right. I'm at extension 4410, and working today (I'm Tuesday thru Thursday).
