Was at one of the worst jams in recent history about a week ago. The band didn't even start at 8pm because there was an ultimate fight going on- the place was jammed w/ drunken spectators-. The band got going at 9:40-45? Then I was sort of underwhelmed by the rash of harp players who sat in. And some guy whom looked like Dave Barrett got up. He lost a lot of weight and produced some of the fattest tone I've ever heard from anyone. Indeed, it was D.B. and he's a monster. I don't get impressed easily but if you ever get the chance, this is one mean harp player. See yah, ---------- Have good day. M.A.P. .

Very cool. Were was this MP? If you don't wanna call out the club i understand. City? ---------- "Trust Those Who Seek The Truth. Doubt Those Who Say They Have Found It."
Dave's prowess as a player is often eclipsed by his visibility as a teacher. But in addition to being the world's preeminent blues harmonica teacher, the cat can BLOW!
You don't believe that, take a look at his version of "Evan's Shuffle.
To me, as someone who has studied this song, Dave has better articulation and note clarity than, dare I say it, Little Walter hisse'f!
Not only that, if you ever the opportunity to sit down and pick his brain, jump onit! His knowledge of playing harmonica is vast but exceeded by his ability to communicate it to us regular folks. I've had such opportunities at several Joe Filisko "Teach Ins" at SPAHs and each time, spending only a few minutes with David Barrett has significantly elevated my playing and helped me over hurdles that, quite honestly, I'd been working on since my previous Teach In. That's one big reason why Filisko Teach In's are easily my favorite aspect of SPAH and reason enough for going in and of themselves.
Plus Dave's a helluva nice fellow.

David Barrett is an outstanding harmonica player. He doesn't sing, so he wasn't as well known professionally. He has also, more than anyone else on the planet, pursued the art and science of teaching - it is a real passion of his. Hishttp://www.bluesharmonica.com/home and https://www.harmonicamasterclass.com// sites offer a huge amount of information. "David Barrett is the worlds most published author of blues harmonica lesson material. "
A great guy and great supporter of all things harmonica. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg
"He has also, more than anyone else on the planet, pursued the art and science of teaching - it is a real passion of his." I assume the qualifier "harmonica" is implied. Understanding teaching (Learning) is more challenging than organic chemistry, physics, engineering or harmonica.
