Just received my Joyo AS pedal and have been trying it out with my small tube amp with so far interesting results. (This is a potentially conflict inciting type of behaviour when you´re living in an apartment, like I, and the walls are kinda thin so I can´t rock out as much as I´d like ...)

I´m a very poor player that struts and frets when it comes to technology, and I wonder, you who use this gadget -- what are your preferred settings for going straight to PA?

Joyo provided very little in terms of instructions (not even on-line, but I ain´t surprised) and I´m trying, inter alia, to get my head around what this business with the "Voice" knob is.

My desired sound is warmth /w a touch of distortion. Mics used are an Audix Fireball and a vintage Beyer.

Set the tone knobs at noon. Set the character knob between 11 and 3 based on how dirty you want it. Then add the drive to taste.

The level only impacts output and not tone.

From there, you might find you want more treble.

Nice. Great sound from what is admittedly an incredibly cheap little device. FYI...I use the British Sound version for guitar mostly, but also more of a tweed bassman sorta harp sound too. I do run it into powered direct box with some eq capabilities which allows me to go xlr into the board. It's quieter too.

The voice and gain controls are very interlinked - so a low setting of 'voice' means you have to have more 'gain' for the same amount of distortion.

If it is supposed to be like the Tech21, then there is some info on their website about example settings. The voice control is meant to sweep around amp type, through blackface then tweed, with champ being at 3 o'clock. Above that it's into the 'lead' territory.

I find for harmonica that the mid control has an important effect on the flavour of the sound, and also affects the gain.

There is so a wide range of gain available, it's all to easy to end up in fuzzbox territory. Also watch out for the output signal - it does seem also to have a wide range (I mean it works a boost i.e. above unity gain vs the input, which is unusual for a pedal) so if you are putting it into a tube amp it could easily overdrive your amp as well.

This is actually a useful feature: my PA has a mix of inputs at mic, instrument and line levels. With this box I can use a line-level input and free up another mic/instrument-level channel.
