so i hooked up an external cab, it has a 10 inch re-issue smooth cone jensen.
i do not hear the rattling noise.
very nice speaker in my opinion.

i found the issue...
it was in fact the power tube causing the rattle i used a bass guitar in to the amp and it was readily apparant. damn, i just missed the monthly swapmeet you can sometimes find a 6v6 for just a few dollars there.
so i may put this back in the shop, while it is in there i may as well have an 8 ohm jack installed on the chassis since i have a very nice 10 inch speaker cab i can use. perhaps i can post a demo, i have i think 5 different 10 inch speakers to test.

ok... i promised myself i would not touch anything.. all i wanted to do was shim the chassis.
so i decided to check the work that was done on my amp. not being an expert, and realizing there are voltages that do not play nice.
first thing i noticed are the caps. illnois capacitors. they are junk i do not care what anyone says they are crap.
next thing i notice are 2 wires that are not connected to anything. that looks like a wire from the transformer do not touch that wire... ouch...
the wire to the speaker jack has been replaced.
that is what killed my transformer i am convinced.
