Anyone currently own or previously owned a HK 4-10?
I may have an opportunity to buy one and I am looking for opinions on the amp from people that have spent alot of time with one. Anything you can offer I will appreciate.
I have played a 6-10 and a 4-10 but I thought the 4-10 could have been dialed in better, and I didn't have the know how at the time. IMO, the 6-10 is the holy grail of harp amps.

a friend of mine has the 410 we have not used it in awile, it may have a bad tube. my experience with it was, you had to hit it hard, and when you did the notes exploded outward, like nothing i have ever played. when you played soft it cleaned up considerably. my guess is they are pretty rare, only so many will ever be made. hard to go wrong.
rod piazza will always be the king around here. looks like he may be using a bassman with a kinder box here. perhaps he borrowed it?
---------- if you appreciate what you have... it becomes more.
Here's my first outing with the one I sold last year. Plus I hadn't been out in a year either. I loved that amp. http://youtu.be/3hHIBBRYh5o ---------- www.spiersharmonicas.com Harp repair and upgrade menu
Holy Shit, Joe!! That is as good as it gets as far as Chicago Blues harp tone. That's some fantastic playing too! Your tone with that amp crushed Lee's tone.
Joe, do you regret selling your 4-10? There not cheap and will continue to rise in value.
There's not an amp on the planet that can touch that expect a 6-10!
I am sold!

1847, great clip! Rod became the King in my eyes when he released "Live at BB King's" What I consider to be in his prime. At that point, no living harp player could touch him on amplified diatonic or chromatic blues.
Thanks Joe. Wish I still had it and regret I'll never be able to afford another one. But it's all just stuff and I needed the money. I got a nice stock LTD now that sounds pretty awesome. Harps play into it too:) FYI that clip is through my favorite CM mic with no VC. Straight in. And I always set the amp controls to give more of a Bassman sound rather than turning up the AFB. ---------- www.spiersharmonicas.com Harp repair and upgrade menu
I use to go see Lee McBee with Mike Morgan & The Crawl every chance I got . Lee was a hell of a singer and a harp player. One of the best anywhere, any time
My Harp King arrived yesterday. I feel I have to say that I am very fortunate to have the means to buy one. Believe me, I worked hard for every dime!
It's an emerald green Kerry Wright signed cabinet with gold grill colth and it's beautiful! I can say there is nothing like it on the planet, except a 6-10 of course! No lie, its an understatement to say this amp is a thunderous beast! Its not a one trick pony. It will do the fattest tone you ever heard, to clean to horn like, to crunchy and everything in between.
The notes jump out at you like a mule kick with an unmatched clarity. Joe knows what I'm talking about!
If anyone ever has a chance to buy one, beg borrow or steal to get it!

1847, I don't notice that at all. I am not a soft player, but I don't play as hard as Cotton either.
What's great is the way it reacts to attack making it easy to change your tone.
If you listen to Dennis Gruenlings demo videos of the mics he sells you can hear what I am talking about when he's blowing thru a HK.
I have owned all the big boutique harp amps, Bassmans, Super Reverbs, Concerts, the HK is the holy grail! John Kinder and Rod figured it out!
