A very breathless lo-fi take on "The stumble" from John Mayall´s group, giving Peter Green extended space. Of course this cut has many of the faults from the British blues boom of the 60´s (obstreperous, forward leaning etc) but Green was truly something extra (and the pale shadow that re-emerged on the music scene some 15 years ago, was just that, a pale shadow of his former self) and it can be heard here to full effect. A terrible drive, which, interestingly, could be substituted for poetic subtelty on slower tracks. Maybe his time was out when he got lost in those druggy mists, but I can feel really sorry that he wasn´t given a few more years.
