Tried this post in the begginners forum but so far no joy......
Does anyone have any suggestions re good online lessons for country and bluegrass harp at an intermediate level? If not online then a good book? Lots of the country stuff online tends to be begginner level it seems....
A similar format to Gussows lessons would suit me well as I don't like to subscribe to monthly payments.

Been working on my pentatonic and I need some meat to get in to!

Thanks

Mike Stevens is the guy to contact to see if he gives skype lessons. I don't think he has any online lessons.

I would second the nomination of Todd Parrott. I took several Skype lessons with Todd.....not that I wanted to necessarily play country music. but I wanted a little country and gospel to use as sort of a "condiment" with rock and blues.

Check out the book by Mike Stevens: Bluegrass Harmonica.
Beware it is hardcore playing there. but awesome chops.

Mike Stevens book is good and although it says for beginners that book would be very difficult for a beginner. Plenty there for an intermediate player.

Todd Parrott gives great skype lessons at really reasonable prices and is a super nice guy.

Mike Caldwell also gives great skype at a good price and is also a super nice guy.

I've had lessons with both and hope to take more with both again soon.

Study Buddy Greene's playing. He is awesome.

Thanks guys... I'll probably grab the book before embarking on any Skype lessons.
Its more to do with expanding my playing style /repertoire than heading in any one direction .

I would recommend http://www.harmonicaacademy.com/ since I know that Tony Eyers plays traditional music and is an educator.
I have adopted his tuning, Major Cross, which is an extension of Melody Maker, with great results.
I am a super nice guy.

Self promotion is never pretty. But what the heck. Read on..

My teaching site Harmonica Academy has been up since 2008. It has 80 lessons, 40 are for blues, 40 are tunes focussed. It's divided into 4 "years", Freshman, Sophomore etc. The Junior and Senior year tune lessons are what you're looking for, I believe. Amongst other things, they teach a standard bluegrass fiddle tune repertoire, up to a high level.

The lesson plan is here

The "but can this guy actually play" section is here

I'm not aware of any other harmonica teaching method which provides a similar level of detail for bluegrass harmonica, however I'll happily stand corrected.

The lessons are not free, but I do have a money back if not satisfied policy, similar to other online lesson providers.

I'm not sure if he offers Skype lessons, but Tulsa Read in Kansas City has several decade's teaching experience. And, his specialty is country and bluegrass. I took 5 or 6 lessons from him and was very impressed. He has affordable prices too.

Here's his website

If you want to dabble and get your toes wet, there is always Lee Sankey. He has a good series on basic techniques which I found very entertaining and useful. He has free and subscription lessons. I have used both.

Thanks again for the links etc guys.
I try to avoid subscription sites, for a few reasons. Mainly though as I like the freedom of just being able to either pay for a couple of Skype lessons In a single go or download a lesson when I need it like with Adams lessons.

Harmonica For Dummies, Second Edition, goes into fiddle tunes and the techniques that can help you play them, and goes beyond beginner stuff, despite the title.

Here's a free sample, taken from Chapter 15 (which also includes first and third position fiddle tunes, along with the folks song Chapter 14):
