Janis was in a league by herself. Nobody can compare.

I have a fond memory of sitting just off stage holding her Southern Comfort bottle. I was about 15 and thought flirting with Janis was about the coolest thing I had ever done to that point in my " career". That'll put a bulge in the old bell bottoms

Not exactly like the original post, but it reminded me of this. (I like the playing, though)

Beelze, maybe after winning that contest he can afford to get the 120volt short circuit fixed on his guitar.

There are white male versions of Janis imitators. The guys who go to the source. The grotesque growl of Dave Van Ronk ( sorry Van Ronk fans) is one of the earliest examples of trying to sound ....I don't even like to say this- black. I think Ronk was trying to to Reverend Gary Davis. Few things are as tiresome as doing a BAD mimic of the real deal.

I can count on one hand real deals now-a-days.

PS. Even Davis is a VERY acquired taste. Check out his "John The Revelator". You almost want Robin Ford....almost. :-)

I thought fox in her band sounded great. But then again, I find 90% of the music posted on this website unlistenable
