In an effort to help out the Satan and Adam documentary, Pete Farmer and his Farmer Foot Drums company have put together a pair of packages that replicate my original and current setups, respectively. (The current package does NOT include the snare drum, though, since that's my own creation. But he's got a snare available.)

The original setup is pretty much what I used on the "Crossroad Blues" video--and on all of KICK AND STOMP. The current setup is what I use with the Blues Doctors. The chief difference is that the original package has a one-head drum; the current package has a DoubleStomp drum, with a head on either side.

If you purchase either package, you'll not only get a nice discount, but Farmer will give $40-50 directly to the campaign. Truth is, the fundraising campaign can use a shot in the arm right about now. So if you've been thinking about taking the plunge, this is the right moment. The special offer will expire on September 17th.

Note: I endorse Farmer Foot Drums but receive no compensation for doing so--except, on two specific occasions four years apart, 30% discounts on equipment that I purchased and a bit of visibility on his website. This is not, in any case, a commercial announcement as per the revised forum rules, but the permitted "occasional" announcement of a new product that might be of interest to MBH members.

Man, I wish I had some cash and someplace I could practice drums. I took 3 months of drum lessons a couple years back but decided ultimately it wasn't working with apartment living, but I do miss it, and the Farmer stuff has been on my mind. (I may eventually go with something electronic that's foot controlled because of the apartment issues.)

Good stuff. Drums are infectious to play. If you've got somewhere you can practice them I definitely recommend giving them a shot.

You're right, Kurt. No, they don't. What's being offered is the closest current approximation to that "original" percussion ensemble. I've still got the "Crossroads" stuff in a gig bag in the closet. At some point I will take it out of the closet and remake "Crossroad Blues" and call myself RJ or EC.

George Miklas (Harmonicats)recently purchased some downbeat pedals from Pete and Kate of Farmers Foot Drums. He is excited about this new adventure and becoming very comfortable implementing them into his music!
