Mostly for those of my generation...

I always wondered what was the meaning of these cryptic words.

This video gave me some answers and also an 8 minute trip down memory lane.

Thanks for posting that Iceman. Reminded me that there was some (not much) non-blues music that I used to listen to and liked. That song and "Vincent" always got/gets me. I lived in Berkeley at that time, and I can remember where I was at various times hearing those songs. And, as you said, interesting insights into the meaning of the song.

Interesting.
They forgot to mention that the" Jester on the sidelines in a cast" was the result of Dylans motorcycle accident when he withdrew from the public for awhile to recover and record with the Band in Woodstock
