So, here I sit in Dallas, contemplating either driving or riding to Ft. Smith to see JR tonight, and Google tells me the venue, Webby D's, is permanently closed. I have been watching this website all week and that is the first time I've noticed "PERMANENTLY CLOSED" as part of the graphics. No answer at the phone number, but it's still a little early for the nightclub employee crowd.

Anybody here know what's going on?
Will JR be in Ft. Smith tonight?

I have no idea. No one ever answered the phone at the bar. Were it not flooding everywhere between here and there it would have been a good excuse for a leisurely 5 hour ride across Oklahoma, playing slot machines and drinking free coffee at the casinos along the way, but it's a little more expensive and a lot less fun in a car which is what the weather is dictating.

Either way, I expect someone "in the know" will weigh in shortly. Greeley Blues Jam Festival 6/13 looks to be the next, closest opportunity. I've been meaning to visit CO.

We heard two days before it "might be closed" due to "Tax Evasion
and that "chains were locking the doors" etc… They never called us back, we didn't play the gig, it totally messed up the tour cost us a bunch of money. This is the third club that has been chained off in my twenty years of touring JUST from Tax evasion…No deposit was made, there is really no form of recourse and sadly this is pretty much par for our biz.

I sure wanted to drive down to Sedan when you played there, but couldn't do it. Bummer about Ft Smith.

Not unusual for bar owners to not pay state sales tax when they are planning on bailing.

They will keep doors open until State Tax Office finally catches on, making and keeping as much $ as possible.

They don't ever tell anyone (bands, bartenders, waitresses, etc) that it is coming. Everyone finds out when they show up to work and see the chain on the door.
