I'm a list hater, but I like what's written in this intro - and 40 is a good sampling for the first 5 months of 2015 so it's not as bad as those other "10 Best [insert here] OF ALL TIME FOREVER AND EVER" lists;-)

"In her recent Grammy winning album, The River and The Thread, Rosanne Cash points out that ‘there’s a million shades of Modern Blue’. We agree. The Blues is a genre that is in constant motion. Blues artists are creating a future for Blues that takes cues from the past in both playing and production of music. Artists are making their own instruments, blending Blues with Country, Folk, and Soul, taking the sound of albums back to analog recording days, mixing Rhythm with their Blues.

In 2015, there is no common factor for Blues musicians. They are young and old, male and female, and the only color visible is Blue.
We have gathered together 40 artists who have (mostly) released albums in the past year; artists that go beyond what has come to be expected of the Blues. These artists do not go to traditional timing, chord patterns, rhythms, or structure. Blues and Rock have had a long, very public, history together and they gave birth to a 12-Bar Blues standard in song. For our Top 40 Modern Blues list, we have put artists that are challenging themselves by relying on the music they hear in their heads. For musicians, there is no ‘final frontier’, the sound will go on forever, though that will not stop players from playing, and finding a new way to express. Here is a sampling of artists that are creating a future for The Blues."

TOP 40 MODERN BLUES ARTISTS FOR 2015

Way to subjective for so, so many reasons! Most of these artists are blues inspired.

Don't cha hate how people pilfer images off of the web and use them like they are their own original image?

Even though it is flattering, that doesn't make it right. Seems to me that Adam might ask them for payment in using and or changing the trademark of this website?

If you're going to steal, at least put some effort into it. What they did looks pretty crappy. I think it was Adam Marsh (Kyser Sosa) that created the home page image, btw.

Owen, I'm as dismayed and astonished as you are by the way the art director (too kind a term) decided to rip off Kyzer's artwork created for this website's header. That's just sleazy, low, and--most importantly--lazy.

It's a lazy-ass, slack-jawed way to work.

And yes, those are fighting words.

I wondered about that, thought somebody would mention it.

Yeah, that's pretty rude. Not sure if it was the writer or editorial.

A strongly worded complaint and "please replace" should take care of it if they are an ethical site (though I wonder how about their content sourcing policy now) or if that doesn't work a DMCA takedown notice filed by the original artist should do the trick.

@marine1896 No more subjective than any other list without strict objective criteria. Even then there's a large dose of subjective arguing.

@Joe We already know their editorial is sloppy, but can you be more specific as to who's names are wrong?

Just saying it's a load of garbage is a bit "get of my lawn" ish.

Did you listen to all of them?
Why are they garbage?
