Hi everybody! Sorry if I make a lot of topics of my playing. Is there is an any rule about it?
I hope that you will find it interesting.
this is my blues harmonica experiment. I'm playing a classic blues song in alternative way. This is 6th position harmonica.

Wow, that unusual position seemed very well suited to the song. Nicely played too. I couldn't have guessed 6th position, when hearing it; sounded very much like 2nd position.

After a short review of your harp tuning, I can't follow it. I'll have to study it a longggggggggggg time. I just bet that 6th position on my regular diatonic wont sound like what I heard you play.

by the way...... nice playing, it works good.

GMaj7, thank you so much for interest and kind words!
mr so&so , thank you! You know in case of blues progression and my tuning it is very similar. 6th position starts from 3 draw and goes mainly like second position even on regular Richter.
Jim Rumbaugh, wow thank you so much! You need to try it. It's very simple, logic and very "richterish". I caught it very quick.

I love what you're doing but would love to know your layout. You have probably posted it many times, but please do it again.

Personally I think 6th position on a standard diatonic is one of the easiest and coolest sounding positions beyond the top three for blues and minor music. I just spent the day playing a Lester Young solo of the song Indiana in 6th position and that was very challenging. When I tried to just solo, it was very difficult. So far I am not sold on 6th position for major jazz.

I have a belief that if more people played blues in unusual positions, we would learn what those positions sound like and people could learn them by ear as opposed to having a heavy theory base. May I recommend 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th and 11th?

BronzeWailer , thank you so much!
Hi Michael Rubin! Thank you so much for interest! You can see the layout on 1.39 of this video. I did not play much in 6 position on any other tuning and harmonica. This is my first try. May be this is particular song or note layout of this tuning but playing 6 position was very similar to 2 position for me. I know what exact notes I need to play and what I do not need even try to blow :)) I'm planning to try record something in other unusual positions: 7,8,9,10 and 11. I've already recorded Saint Louis Blues in 12 (If you interested, you can find it here http://www.modernbluesharmonica.com/board/board_topic/5560960/5486463.htm).
I agree with you on positions. They can give us new phrases, new melodic ideas and fresh vision on favourite music.
