Here is my shining beacon.

Carlos Del Junco (from Mongrel Blues CD)

Song is traditional, musicians play it almost straight adding a modern hip twist.

Harmonica solo shows velocity does not have to shred, but can be captivating, energizing, impressive, and - above all - MUSICAL.

Very nice. The harp sparkles without being gaudy, and is quick, but surefooted and light, and never squeaky.

Thanks for sharing.

Amen - Carlos is the shit. Now to slow those rifs down and get back to practicing. Great simple (but not easy) patterns and scales to work on.

He really is an amazing player. I wonder if he still plays the original meister class harps that he had the combs chrome plated.

Few have the elements Carlos has, which is technique, and easy touch, as it were, on the instrument, a strong sense of melodic construction, and a rounded, expressive tone. And speed, of course. I assume he could shred if he wanted to, but there is a lot of that (or at least a lot of players trying to)going on already. He has created his own approach to the blues.

I was smiling, and laughing, and having an orgasm simultaneously. What a terrifically musical and playful and evolved piece that was. That guitarist had some serious mojo too. Superlative post!

It's an incredible run Carlos is doing there with perfectly timed delay/repeat. He's really maximizing the effect in an awesome way.

I'd like to hear the same run without the repeats in it. Great version of the tune!

Dennis has it all going on...as the Americans say he's the most.
Not dress sense though!!!!

Also, that's a great band and Joel Paterson is amazing.

Of course my comments are subjective.
