Hi guys. So .... A few months in to my journey and im quite comfortable in noodling along to jam tracks on my c harp using 2nd position up to say the 6 hole but anything beyond that sounds a little off. Even if I stay in the scale.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to some 'safe' notes to hit in the upper register when I'm improvising when I want the top end to wail that bit higher? Where to take off and where to land? Or maybe a little riff that covers a couple of higher notes?
It all sounds a bit better up there on an a or g harp but I'm sure that can't be the only answer...
Thanks all!

The 2nd position blues scale continues from the 6 blow like this:

+6 +6OB +7 -7OD -8 -9

Which are the same notes (but one octave higher) as:

-2 -3b +4 -4b -4 -5 +6

If you cannot overblow/draw, then just play:

+6 +7 -8 -9

The +6OB is kinda crucial (it's the blue third), but you can get by with out it.

You can then continue for another half an octave of even higher blues scale notes as:

+9 -10 +10bb +10

Thanks for the tips! I think that perhaps it's that as I can't yet Overblow or draw I've been hitting the wrong notes, I'll try your suggestions re easy notes and start practicing to Overblow.
Thanks!

Ian...

My opinion is that it is too soon for you to be worrying about OB.

Time may be better spent working those "given" notes above hole 6 inhale.
