Hey guys i've been starting to try and figure out this song by ear and i need some help with the 1st few notes of this song to get me going and i need some hints. I believe the song in in G and the cross harp is C. The 1st couple of notes seem to be Ab-Ab-Ab-A-G.? Am I on the right track. Any hints to get me going in the right direction? Thanks

You are on the right track, its definitely G on a C harp. I haven't played it in a while so i will have to check the first few notes tomorrow. Its not easy to get it all, as the recording is pretty bad. Also, i wouldnt worry about getting it note for note, as the album track is so different than what everyone heard in the movie. It is a fun track to play at a jam or open mic night though.

I'm still struggling just trying to get the 1st few notes. I've listened over and over and just cant get them. I can pic out some of the later licks but the beginning is a problem for me. I now think it starts on Bb. I'm not looking to play the song note for note but I would like the 1st part to sound really close. Any help? Thank you!

as I hear it the first few notes (on a c harp) are on the three hole draw; 1/4 step to half step to whole step bends, to the two hole draw, three hole half step, two hole, three hole half step, four blow.

Its all about the blue third and the different tones you can get from the three hole draw. Check out Adams lesson on the three hole bend so that you can hear what is happening here.

didjcripey, thank you!!! i have Adam's 3 hole draw video and to me its the hardest hole too bend right. Always bends too far right past the blue note. Again, thanks for showing me what I need to focus on it's very much appreciated. I am happy i was able to pick out the blue note Bb (-3b) after two weeks of listening :)

No worries; it is perhaps the hardest hole to bend properly, but also one of the most important for blues.
