hello a while ago I came across a piece of equipment that covers the back end of the harmonica and is connected to some earphones that your wear and when you play you can hear and the people around you do not get disturbed as much.

Can any body remember the name?

I hope to here from you Guys soon thanking you in advance

I have seen what you describe for brass instruments, Yamaha makes one called "Silent Brass", but I have yet to see the concept applied to harmonica.

My last post was ironically muted... will try again.

And again... Trying without hyperlink...

Perhaps you're referring to the SottoVoce..?

That's good to hear. It was worth persevering with all those disappearing posts (which, oddly enough, have since resurfaced...).

Let us know how it works out for you.

@Harmlessonica: There's an automatic spam killer which can neither be turned off nor reasoned with. It does't like links or short posts.

Narcoran periodically has to go to the spam bucket and retrieve posts, which is what happened with yours.

Yeah I'd heard others complain about it before.

Do we even know what the character count of said 'short post' actually is..? I'd be happy to pad out future posts with some of my lame jokes...

all that is usually required is to hit enter twice before posting. maybe 3 times for comfort. but links may change the rules.

...or this, with added joke:

What happened when Adam Gussow and Dave Barrett fought over the use of the word 'inhale' instead of 'suck'?

They called it a draw.

I use this device: while not electric or with earphones, it works pretty well. You can hear the harp very well if you're playing, but it really does mute the sound into the room.

Or, you can just tape up the back of your harp with some electrical tape. Experiment with how much of the back opening has to be covered for your situation.

Harmlessonica, it doesn't seem to be an exact word count, but rather some sort of ratio of words to links.

As for Adam and Dave's dispute, people were optimistic that that had settled the dispute, but then things came to blows.

Thanks for the advice Nate, and for fishing out my posts. I did try to make one of my posts a little longer and avoided the direct link, but it still seemed to go under.

Also, good work on the comedy 'topper'. We should probably have a thread dedicated to harmonica humour... would be a nice way to lighten the mood from time to time.

Until then, some thoughts to sign off with...

Does Ronnie Shellist play the Shello?

I can't wait to see Mark Hummel in the next Star Wars movie.

Have you heard about the new tax on the harmonica? They're calling it the Howard Levy.
