Howzit!?
May I inquire?
I have a friend, yup...I actually have alot of em!
This particular young lady care takes a 90 year old.
She is hoping to rekindle his passion for his Chromatic she stumbled upon recently.
I haven seen it yet. And know nothing about anything.
Apparently, it will need a complete overhaul, far I was told.
I forget who the Chromatic tuners are, or i would email already.
Well, thanks!..in advance.
Let's say, I'm gonna be the middle man. Taking no cut for my troubles.
I got a soft spot for this kind of story.
Good cause, indeed.
Any takers?
I can have it in the mail ASAP. LMK>
Funny, I have been learning the chromatic lately.
I got 3 of em now. Love it.
I want to thank all you guys for allowing me to be a part of this forum.
Let's give it up for the 90 yr old.
I trust her instincts.
I only hope we can get it finished before he's a goner!
LOL!

Chromatic repair is always a tricky one for techs.
There are so many possibilities that it is hard to estimate the cost.
The good ones - and there are few - will put a very fair price out there up front, but that almost always is a bit of a sticker shock.

The old ones almost always have a broken comb and on top of that, they are nailed together. Before anything gets done, the tech has to deal with these issues. Afterward, he has to reinstall all the wind savers and check the slide.

Beautiful instruments when they are done correctly, but it is quite common that the cost of repair is as much as twice the price of a new one.

Yeah, I just replaced a wooden comb (purchased from Fathead, he's got 'em) on a 260--$50, and it's still a 260.
I recommend buying a new chrom when you have big problems like that, but the owner is 102--so he's set in his ways.

Much appreciated! I got a couple leads, thanks again.
I know it's better in some cases to just buy a rebuilt one on Ebay.
Recently, I got an amazing deal....well, Let's just say, good deals ARE out there.
The 2 out of 3 I got off Ebay have proven a good investment.
Thanks!

Greetings...
Wow, my lady friend brought it to the gig last night.
The old man really wants it restored.
And I see why. It's nice.
I ebayed it and they're worth a little. This one is more sentimental. I recommended she just get him one off Ebay. And there are a few.
I may even grab it if he doesn't want it. The cost of rebuilding will already take too much dough, I fear.It is cool lookin. How's the design?
Anyone have history with this model?

soliciting feedback.
Thanks for the recommendations for chromatics.

A very good friend I have yet to meet in person sent me one of those last year. It's one of the coolest designs for a harp I've ever seen.
Play-wise it's kind of temperamental. It may have some leaks but I found if I play it fairly easy it does ok.
I was quoted about $100-150 to go through it and tighten/reseal.
