I thought it might be fun to show off bluesy solo harmonica Christmas jingles as we approach the yuletide. I always get asked to play something and I'm not very good at them so I'm pushing myself to learn them in a bluesier way this year. Hopefully I actually enjoy playing them.
Any videos out there from the membership? I'll post one I'm working on by tomorrow. Doesn't have to be long, advanced or too fancy, although those are most welcome too!

This is an iPhone recording of my playing Blue Christmas on guitar/rack. I'm using a bebop tuned Seydel Fanfare that is a (C/LowC) octave. Sort of has that accordion sound.

nice swingin christmas tune! that's what i want to hear out there....not the over produced bombastic crap blasting everywhere. I tell you, even the salvation army bell ringerss have lost their entire charm as they now crank up some boom box filled with loud cheesey studio product....bah humbug!!!

OK, I've done one.
Richard Sleigh has a great version. I imagined how Rudolf might have felt when he was left all alone and got into the eggnog before Santa asked for his assistance.

And classical carol of the bells
I'm going to attempt something like that video on a diatonic soon.

If you are referring to the God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, the root chord is Em. I'm using a (D) harp and playing 3rd position. It lays out pretty easily starting on 4 draw. However, it does require an overblow at 6. The workaround for folks that don't like to play OB is to re-tune the 7 draw down 1/2 step.

O.K. here's my second position jingle bells. One worng note in the mix! It took a while as there are too many things happening around the farm and in the house to get an uninterrupted minute! My woodshed is full up! Happy/Merry Yuletide to all!
