I'm going to be in the NYC area from this Sunday through Thanksgiving. Most of that time will be family time, but I may be able to steal away on either Monday or Wednesday night. Is there a good jam session in NYC or nearby NJ/CT? I'll be based in Piermont, about 10 miles above the GW Bridge.

Edited to add: I will definitely NOT be able to steal away on Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday night.

Has anybody been to the Wednesday jam at the Robin's Nest? That's where I'm most likely to go.

Robin's Nest is a great jam. It's a little place, but brings in some great players. I've run into Rob Paparozzi a few times, Michael Packer, Bob Lanza, Dave Runyan. It's fun because the crowd is really into the blues, not just hanging out on a wednesday night.

Hey Adam - On Wednesdays, your old pal Orville Davis runs a small, but growing, open mic session at Magoo's Pub on Broadway, just north of 231st St. in the Bronx (close to your old homestead in Inwood). Might not be the best for you at the moment, since I can't guarantee a lot of folks being there, especially the night before Thanksgiving. But just wanted you to be aware of it. -Jordan

I should have added to all harp readers here that Orville is a great, songwriter, singer, guitarist and he actively welcomes anyone who would like to participate. So, if you live in the Bronx, Manhattan, Yonkers, or beyond, it would be great to see you there.

Thanks for the tip, Jordan! That's certainly the closest to where I am. I just may get crazy and do that. I'll try and let folks here know, regardless.

Adam, I just called Magoos to confirm and learned Orville's Open Mic has moved to Piper's Kilt in Inwood. But the next one is NEXT week, not this coming Wednesday. Sucks, but I hope you end up someplace you get to jam on and on and on ... -Jordan

Shucks! I was in London at the time of your post or I would have asked you to stand in for me at one of my missed gigs. Hope NYC/NJ enjoyed your verve!
