I hope this isn't considered spam but I wanted to post my version of Over the Rainbow which is a track from my debut CD – Inside Out. (Every 56 years, I like to out out a CD) :)

I use a major 7th tuning on this ("country" as it's now called). No overblows - just old school suckin and blowin.
It was played through my 1951 Stromberg Carlson (209) Amp using a Shure 58.

I hope you enjoy.

Hi Roly-- don't ever apologize for posting tasty music like this. It was beautiful. I loved it.

You want some friendly criticism? No? Glad you asked. Going from a low note to a high note, and vice versa, you might want to miss the 2 or three notes in between. You are doing a quick glissando to the note you want to get to. Think about it, but if that's your style, I won't argue. This was a beautiful performance of a beautiful song.

Cheers,

IMO this is one of the best harmonica versions of this song. Solid sound and very interesting to listen through all song.

Oh yes. Let the melody tell the story.

Hey. I thought I was the only one who sustained 4 hole inhale bend with throat vibrato.

Really nice playing Roly. I've always enjoyed that tune and you certainly did it justice.

That was really wonderful, Roly! Super tone, nice phrasing and I like how you developed the melody through the verses. I don't mind the bliss up to the high notes at all - you didn't do it every time which is also good, of course.

Oh, and ..... nice mic!

Awesome! I passed over this post a few times, just imagining how schmaltzy or self-indulgent it could have been....

but this was masterful! Just the right amount of grit. Nice piano accompaniment too.

Roly is a great player. I think I first heard his music a few years ago, when someone posted some of his music here on the forum, and I really liked his stuff!

Roly has done on harmonica for this song what Eva did vocally for "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

Both let the melody tell the story.

If this doesn't inspire you to get past your tired old blues 'licks' nothing will. Yes Junior, - you can play melodies on it too ! Beautifully done.
