Yeah, it's been slow and dull here last few months without Frank. Guess he got tired of all the crap he got. It's a bleaker (internet) world without him.

After repeat violations of the creed, the three forum moderators and I decided about three weeks ago to suspend Frank's posting privileges for a minimum of one year. I'm not sure why we went so easy on him--with almost any other forum member we would have deleted him from the membership rolls permanently--but we valued many of his contributions over a sustained period of time and wanted to leave open the possibility that he might return at some point in the future.

This forum is the most lenient, supportive and forgiving of those that cross the line.

In order to be suspended, I believe one must really ignore warnings and disregard the forum creed.

Although stirring the pot may be entertaining for some, the negative energy created is sometimes not worth it.

Frank is why I stopped participating in this forum
years ago. Frank isn't happy, unless he's making other people miserable.

Years ago?

Are you sure it was the same Frank? We had the famous TNFrank too.

Frank was a great poster, he add a lotof color, and entertainment. I only ever saw him get cranky when provoked by other lesser members.

Jinx sez "other lesser members".

I didn't realize there was a hierarchy for posters on this list.

What is the criteria?

I always thought he was kind of a thread killer. He was great at taking any interesting thread and spinning it completely off topic.

I liked Frank too. He had some wacky topic starters and could be a bit of a dick- but you could always ignore him if he bothered you that much

Frank counted on the fact that some folks always take the bait

I, for one, won't miss the ceaseless absurd top 10 threads, and the wacky jpg's linked to in the middle of other's threads. It all jumped the shark for me with the "Erectile dysfunction and the blues" thread.

I never thought he was bullying, just thought the overall quality of the forum decreased as a result of the endless absurdities. That may not have gotten him tossed, but I always thought, it's only a matter of time.

Quantity does not equal quality.

I'm sure he sat back and laughed every time he got someone riled.
He may not have had the answer for everything like some.....but he had an answer. Sometimes he would respond with a youtube video that was off topic, but he did post a lot of cool videos I know I would have never found.
I think Frank would be a hoot to have a few brews with.
In honor of Frank would should rename this thread "Top 10 Reasons We Miss Frank"

I, for one, thought that his erectile dysfunction thread nailed it close to home. A lot of blues circle around sexual prowess. If people could have raised their view a little it could have been a great thread.

Frank, as others, sometimes let his on-line persona get the better of him. I believe his mental health is well and that he has a good knowing of his own inner workings which others lack and would be better of if they just had some.

Furthermore, JJ, I think you should go back to lurking if this is what makes you post. Frank is still member here even though he is suspended and the forum creed still adhere to this and other threads that may be started about him.

Pistolcat,

Why is JJ Harpers opinion or any of those that aren't supportive of Frank any less valid than the opinions of those that say he will be missed? Yes, there's a forum creed. But JJ didn't start this thread. The question was asked, "where is he?" and was answered by kudzu. And then those that felt he will be missed wanted to weigh in. That's fine, but why is the opinion of those that feel he won't be missed any less valid? If those, and only those, people are silenced, it looks like somebody universally loved by the forum membership was suspended unduly.

As it is, I suspect we're probably (and unfortunately) headed toward a thread lock. I hope I'm wrong.

EDITED TO ADD: You knowwhat? My bad, after further consideration, I should not have added anything negative about him. This was a keep your thoughts to yourself moment and I didn't. I would delete my remarks above, but that would then make parts of your post referencing mine nonsensical.

I apologize.

Frank Fans, have at it, you will hear nothing further from me.

Bobo - Whether or not he was loved or not is not the point.

"As a long time lurker I noticed Frank and wondered about his mental health."

To speculate about a mans mental health when he is not able to respond himself is just bad, fucking taste and in violation of the forum creed. Even without a forum creed one should see that kind of speculation is just not something a stand-up person would carry on.

Pistolcat, do you always get so defensive when somebody expresses an opinion you do not like? Frank stuck out like a sore thumb from the rest of the members. I would read Frank's threads and posts and really puzzle at what the heck he was trying to say. Sometimes he was crudely insulting to others. He repeatedly tried to bait this community into crazy racist threads for his own amusement. I thought he was offensive and had a problem understanding boundaries and community norms. I agree with Kudzurunner and the three forum moderators since they banned him for a year. He was a troll and forums like this have to weed out people like him.

Just my opinion....

I did not give Frank a "Kick." The moderators did when they banned him. That is the topic here. I'm sure one reason they banned him is because he drove members away and reduced the number of hits. He disrupted the conversations. You liked Franks posts. Fine, I get that. I did not like his online persona at all, and I think the moderators have validated that.

And I'll leave it at that.

JJ - Nope, I get angry at bullies. I sometimes get defensive when I, myself is criticised. I sometimes misstep here. Last time when I called JInx out on some thread. When someone (kudzu, I think) pointed out that I was over the line I checked myself, redacted and apologised.

What you expressed was not an opinion at all I'm afraid. It was a offhand questioning of another's mental health to which he cannot answer himself whereupon I took it upon me to speak up so that no bullying can take place. I apologise to Frank if he reads this but I hope that he understands thereason why I had to speak for him.

When Frank suddenly stopped posting following a series of troubled threads and warnings I had no doubt as to what was going on. Based on previous instances it appeared clear to me that Frank would not have stopped posting on his own because of differences of opinion.

I hope he is continuing to play good blues, and maybe playing out some. He is good enough that he should be heard playing music in public.

I suggest that we all try to get along and not engage in divisive arguments about his forum status ;)
