First of all -- many thanks for the input on my RP--PA conundrum. It´s a process that maybe -- or maybe not -- will be sorted out in due time and I´m grateful for the pointers given.
Meanwhile, I´m being offered a brand new amplifier by a generous man, as a go to-item when that is handy, and complementeing the RP setup. It´s meant as payment for stuff I´ve recorded for him, and I´m not sure if I can accept it, but if I do it´s going to be a case of us buying an amplifier in a store here in Gothenburg and not him giving me money -- that would not be acceptable.
We have started looking and I tried a Fender Blues Jr the other day, and it was made clear to me that this could be something. My friend is very much into tubes and if he´s going to sponsor something I´m pretty sure he´ll find it more meaningful with a tube amp. (The stuff we record together is mostly blues.)
My question is, in this price range, some $7-800, would that be a good thing to buy?
I´ve noticed that people use it for harmonica, but my ignorance in the sound department is vast. What I´m looking for primarily would be an amp with enough volume for smaller gigs, and a decent blues- as well as clean sound.
Would I be better adviced to look elsewhere.
Thus wonders,
Martin

A used Blues Jr. is a $350 amp. U.S. currency, Craigslist Dallas. Whether or not it is, or can be, a good harp amp has been a subject of wide discussion.

i think you probably have the power range about right for the jobs you described prices for amps seem to vary widely depending where you are. in my country its common to see such an amp at that price secondhand.
a Blues Jr would be well down my list though i'd much rather a Pro Jr, Princeton Reverb, Laney Cub 10 or LC15, VHT 12/20, numerous others without thinking about all the vintage models...

Gothenburg. Sweden? That may rule out my admittedly self-serving suggestion. If you live Stateside, you might consider the mid-70s-era Fender Silverface Princeton I have for sale on the 2014 For Sale page:
It's time for me to reluctantly part with my treasured 1970s era SilverFace Princeton amplifier. Yes, this is the one that Big Walter Horton was often photographed with. It was his favorite amp and that is why I invested in it.

This classic amp is built like a little tank so it weighs 35 lb. My poor old back just can't deal with it any more and an RP with Richard's patches is looking more and more appealing daily. That is the ~only~ reason I would part with this killer little harmonica amplifier.
A few particulars: I purchased the amp in 2002 and had it "blueprinted" (brought to original factory specifications, replacing any damaged or worn parts) by "Lord Valve" a famous Denver amp tech at the time. He installed new caps and other technical innards that I can't name as needed. He also installed new hand-picked NOS vacuum tubes and replaced the original 10" Oxford speaker with a new Jensen P10Q. I retained the old speaker, which is in fine working condition in case I (or someone else) should ever decide to return the amp to its original condition (I didn't want to damage or put wear on the original speaker).
The amp absolutely SCREAMS now! I sometimes think it will actually levitate off the floor when I really drive it. I've had jam leaders stop mid-song to find out what amp was making ~that~ sound. [Important note: this is ~not~ a Princeton Reverb amp, but neither was Shakey's.]
I'm offering the amplifier at $750 plus shipping and insurance. My HarpBuddy Rick Davis (Memphis Amplifiers) has kindly offered to professionally pack and ship it from his location in Denver.
(9/23/14)PRICE REDUCTION!!!: now only $700, shipping included!
Many thanks for your time!
Michelle
