Guys, I am very confused and kind Of desperate...
In march I had very strong throat infection, streptoccocus pyogenes, 70% in my lab results. So I got 10 penicilin injections... In june same thing, doctor gave me antibiotics and thats it. And last week same thing, same bacteria... It starts with pain in throat and after couple Of days headache, fever... So I have antibiotics again...
My doctor thinks that I contaminated my harmonicas and I got sick from using then. Can that be True?
It Will be difficult to open and sterelize every harmonica (especialy harps with screws, unsealed combs...).
So, do you guys know anything about it? Maybe someone had same problem?

Find a friend with an autoclave and do the whole bunch at once…

I suggest you do something though… I wouldn't want to incubate a mrsa on my harps with all that antibiotic usage and reinfection.

I could also be full of crap… as I am no MD…

not a doctor, but I do know that a lot of bacteria needs a moist environment. Harmonicas sit around and get pretty dry, thereby creating a hostile environment for those bugs.

We have a resident doctor on this list. I remember interacting with him on the thread about throat bending. Maybe he will chime in.

I'd suggest that you have underlying health/lifestyle issues which compromise your immune system and make you prone to this disease.
Sterilising your harps might help, but it won't be long before you become exposed to this or other bacteria again.

Strep pyogenes sore throats are really uncomfortable so you have my sympathy. The standard treatment is penicillin, although interestingly this side of the pond we would more than likely give the treatment in tablet form rather than injection. Penicillin intra muscular injections can be notoriously painful.
As for your harps, a simple way to discover if they are a reservoir of disease would be to ask your doctor to perform a swab test on the harp(s). I know that strep pyogenes can be cultured from the skin of healthy asymptomatic individuals, and that carrier states exist where the germ can survive in the nasopharynx again in an asymptomatic state, but can infect others when spread ( usually by the droplet/aerosol route ).
Sometimes even in adults we used to take the tonsils out if the infections become too frequent.
