Hey everyone: Thanks for all the support and great threads. A Moon Cat made the paper today in exquisite company about the new Johnny Winter record "Step Back". It was by far the strangest recording I was ever part of from a technical standpoint but definitely the most fun. Record premiers tomorrow it's a great recording (just heard it today) and I am blessed to have had the opportunity! Thanks to everyone again for sticking by me.

Great to hear Jason. I think I recall when you announced you'd been asked to play on a JW session a couple years back. Are these the same recordings?
I loved Johnny Winter's work under his own name, but I'm really so grateful for those records he made with Muddy Waters, especially bringing Jimmy Rogers and Walter Horton together, and that great record he made with Sonny Terry. That's a great legacy.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll find a track to spin on radio next Tuesday night (Mostly Folk on Hobart FM 96.1) do you have any recommendation?

Yeah Super Bee: this is that same recording, finally finished, featuring: Clapton, Bonamassa, Dr John, Leslie West, Brian Setzer, Billy Gibbons and myself. It took that long to finish! The session was CRAZY, very rushed, I got two passes at the recording was in the iso booth for a grand total of 10 minutes. I was playing seconds after my tubes warmed up long enough to make noise and the headphones were placed on my head while I was turning my mic on... The track was done with all scratch musicians (drums, bass, vocals, Piano, guitar) I was the only one who was gonna stay on the recording (usually we get to be last!). Hanging with Johnny again was always cool and I have no words to tell how cool he is and how telepathic and supportive he's been the last few years... The take (My Babe) is not my best work but definitely not my worst…Given the nature of that day I was pleasantly surprised this morning to hear it...My two draw note (F) goes flat about 1/3rd of the way through the track but Nick Moss said: "thats the blues". Setzer's guitar solo is by FAR my favorite guest appearance it was crazy and it's strange to get jealous of Brian Setzer!!! Johnny's solo rendition of "Death Letter" will most likely be everyones favorite track, it is mine. All in all it was insane to be part of it and this appearance is really a full circle tribute to Pat Ramsey in many ways. Thanks again to everyone hear for all the support!-Jason Ricci

Great news , Jason. Isn't there a video of you and a guitarist busking Winter's tune "Hustled Down in Texas?" I saw it once and was floored by your harmonica work; fast, honking, varied, driving stuff, just the way I like it. The guitarist was solid as well.Anyway, I am getting my order in.

Great cut Jason! I played the 3 tracks you mentioned. The Okie Dokie Stomp is fantastic, but My Babe was really special. The harp was way cool and Johnny was singing really strong.

Hi MoonCat,

Frank Latorre is from Long Island. I used to see him play all the time at Willie Steel's blues jam at Mother McGee's in Huntington Station, NY, back in the '90's. He has a pretty fast, fluid playing style and my guess is he would have a real appreciation of your playing.

He also plays some blues guitar and he is an artist, hacing painted many blues-related murals in a local restaurant and I know he did a few Italian restaurants with cool rustic murals. Pretty talented guy. I knew he had played with Johnny Winter in the past but didnt know he was going to appear on the new JW album.
