These were recorded in '07 at MPACT TV Studio in Palmer Ma. Don O'Dell was producing at that time a public access TV show called "Blues Time" and asked us to film a show. It is now called "Legends" and is still alive and well.
Hope you enjoy them.

Bullet mic into a 65 Fender Vibrolux Reverb. DM2 and OC2 also used.

Thanks 1847.... Forgot Paul deLay in the subject line.

This starts a bit after the song does, but still a good nod to the Good'un!

This is wonderful harmonica playing. Primrich had the right combination of sweetness and sass. He was always wonderful at his use of spaces, like the pauses in a dramatic monlogue that create emphasis and give shape to the emotions being played through. He died much too soon.

I don't play too fast. You're listening too slow.

1847, I missed it. Did you find the song Indiana? I can't find that one, someone told me it was good and I would love to see it.

Ted, if the compliment is for me, thanks!

@Johnny: I was a little confused at first, until I realized that that was you in the two videos you posted, not Gary. Then it took me a while to figure out that your "forum" last name isn't the last name you perform under. I went and found your videos and really liked this one. "Afro Blue" isn't a song many harp players cover, but it's a great example of how blues harp guys not infrequently borrow from the jazz side of the tracks. Call me a Johnny Marino fan!:

Johnny Marino fan #2 here.

Fearlessley taking diatonic (and fat tone) into interesting areas of music.

Mostly, I like how Johnny commits to EACH INDIVIDUAL NOTE with a NO DOUBT attitude. As well, I enjoyed the working a line and developing it as time moves forward.

Also, one of my favorite approaches - messin' w/ the time, arcing lines over it and landing on both feet at the right spot.

Band is not too shabbey, either.

Good stuff. I was barely aware of who Gary Primich was until Carlos Colina turned me on to him. After that I spent many hours trying to find any good quality video of him.

When I was still living in South Florida, I had the great pleasure to hear Johnny jamming with (among others) The Nucklebusters many times in Delray Beach. Always spot on! The mooncat followed in Johnny's footsteps, taking on the harp chair in that band for awhile. Great memories.

In September 2007, Primich died at his home in Austin, at the age of 49,[2] of acute heroin intoxication.[6]

Gary was a good friend of mine when I lived in Austin. We shared Jimmy Carl Black on drums when he and Gary had a band called Black and Blues. Gary was also a very good lead guitar player. Later in his life after I had left Austin another of my bandmates played a lot with him - Mark Korpi (guitar) and another close friend managed his royalties. I was shocked to have not seen him since how he looked in the video below and then saw him on this forum in videos just before his death. It is so sad to see people go that way. He was an electrician at the University of Tx when I knew him. That was when Austin was busting at the seams and gained national attention. Check out this old newstory. Gary is putting money in the guitar case at the 1:08 mark. That is the Gary I remember. Walter

Thanks Stan. Austin was a special place back then. Unfortunately as soon as the world discovers a place it is already ruined. I payed $150/month for a 2 bdrm house in downtown. Now that house is more like $1,500/month. We played 7 nights a week and made enough to get by. Most places fed you and sent you home with food and it was a real community. My few remaining musician friends in Austin tell me don't bother coming to visit because the Austin I knew is long gone. I was lucky to hit it at the right time. Gary got in town about the same time as me. It was easy to go to drugs. I know many that are dead from it back then. Walter
