I was in a friend's office today and he had an unusual looking gadget on his desk. Turned out to be an electronic bagpipe. It made me wonder if there was a harmonica equivalent. It would be convenient for practicing without irritating everyone in the house. A quick search produced the Harmonix website.

Does anyone know anything about them? Are they available in the U.S.? Do they play like a standard harp? Since the electronics are built into the unit, what type sound do they produce?

It looks like they are not just electronic, but have reeds like a standard harp so I assume that they are audible without an amplifier. So much for the quiet practice idea. Still I'm curious about them. Anybody have any firsthand info?

I've seen their page before but I don't know much about them. Turboharp is doing something in that same vein, I think. There is also Jamboxx, which is technically a control device for a synthesizer laid out like a harmonica. There were a couple earlier attempts too, but I forget their names.
