Does anyone else's dog 'sing along'? Are they singing or wailing? This is my dog riffing to Harlem Riff (thanks Adam)

Pretty sure it's singing along. Mine is excellent at call and response, but not so good at harmony. I assume if he was suffering that badly and not just singing the blues, he'd leave the room.

I reckon they're singing. My dog's voice is very different according to what I play. She really wails when I play slow blues and does a yappy quick bark when I play swing or fast stuff. She'll come in to the room when I play, and she's usually wagging her tail, so I don't think she's suffering.

My dog will howl along but only if I play a quick shuffle, and only indoors. My older son says the dog is howling in pain because my playing is so bad! He does not howl(the dog that is, my older son howls any time he can hear me playing an instrument) to my trombone or my younger sons alto sax playing.

I can sometimes get the wild coyotes to respond to the trombone. I had a coyote stop and listen to my harp playing once. When it walked away, I switched to a higher register and it stopped and looked over its' shoulder for a while before walking on.

I had my sons herd of 6 goats out tonight and they all stopped and stared for about 30 seconds when I started playing the harp. They then resumes their grazing. None baa'd along.

Just let the dog out and he stopped and sniffed at something on the back porch. Turned out to be a big hairy tarantula! Neither the dog not the spider were hurt. I played a tarantella on the harp but the spider would not dance and the dog would not sing.

My dog howls along. He definitely has preferences as far as groove and key. He likes a slow blues, which I play on a C harp in second position.

In your home, you are probably the pack leader. Your dog looks to you as the alpha. He hears you howling and he is trying to communicate with you. It's nice to think that you are bonding with your dog on a primal, instinctive level that not a lot of other people can.

My pooch sits quietly next to me while I'm playing. But I can get some obnoxious sounding noises when I'm practicing my 8-9-10 blow bends that send her running for cover.

I have a friend whose dog howls to the TV show Two and a Half Men theme. It's hilarious.
