I thought that it would be fun and interesting for forum members to post a few classic non-blues songs with harp solos that were absolutely essential to the song. This is not to say that the harp parts were NOT blues riffs, most of the time they were. But they made these songs classics, and are harp solos that everyone should practice and learn, even if only for fun and frolic. Here are a few:
And then there's Hugh McCracken's simple but integral harp part that bookends "The New Frontier," (with just enough cowbell)from Donald Fagen's 1982 post-Steely Dan album:
Shanty, Jonathan Edwards Run Through the Jungle, Creedence Train Train by Blackfoot If You Want to Get to Heaven: Black Oak Arkansas I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues: Elton John (Stevie Wonder on harp)

Bruce Channel with Delbert McClinton on harp. I've had to play this a couple times in the Dirty Dancing Burlesque show that Blue Morris puts on here in Vancouver. (Tough job but somebodies got to do it!) A bit tricky to get note for note 'cause I think he was making it up on the spot. Parts of it seem like mistakes that he just blows through. I think he did the original in first on an A harp but later on switched to second pos, D harp which is what I used. ---------- MBH Webbrain - a GUI guide to Adam's Youtube vids FerretCat Webbrain - Jason Ricci's vids (by hair colour!)
@ Hawkeye Kane – The harp on Got No Shame was played by Topper Price. Can't tell if that is Topper on stage with Brother Cane in that video, but Topper was a good deal better than that particular example would indicate. :^)
