I came across a link to this new website on another list (r/wearethemusicmakers on reddit) that is supposed to be able to interpret your humming, playing, etc., and tell you the chords that would back it: http://www.chordbuff.com/. Seemed cool and potentially VERY useful, so I thought I'd pass it along here. I'm at work, and my computer here has no mic, so I couldn't really test it. It seems pretty functional and EASY, though! (not to mention, FREE). Will be testing this out at home later...

I don't have a guitar to give it a shot on, but maybe I need to get my harp tuned up. It's suggesting an E chord for a two hole blow on my D harp.

(The next time I played it it gave me the suggestion of an Am which sounds like a better choice.)

There is a Android app called Pitchlab that you might find interesting.

Here is another one :)

Search for the name of a song or band, and the site will bring up the relevant video from Youtube. It'll also automatically analyse the track, work out which chords are being played, and show you them in guitar, ukulele or piano notation. So you can play along.

You could do just as well or better drawing chord names out of a hat.
