It seems to me that there are a lot of "filler" posts these days.

Could it be a sort of addiction to post so much chaff and not enough grain?

lyrics added for post to be granted by the spam basterd:)

You're so fine wanna love you all the time
You're so fine pretty baby, let me love you all the time

Well and I got a girl she's fine and brown
What I like about her, she's mine all mine
She's so fine, yes she's so fine
You're so fine pretty baby, let me love you all the time

Well I wanna give you all my money buy you diamond, everything
Till you be mine, baby then we will make amends
You're so fine, yes you're so fine
You are a fine healthy thing, I wanna love you all the time

Now you fill my conversation baby, you made me talk myself to death
I'm in love with you baby and I don't want nobody else
You're so fine, yeah you're so fine
You are a fine healthy thing, I wanna love you all the time

Yeah you're so fine baby, let me love you all the time

Now you know I love you baby and I just can't help myself
Goin' crazy 'cause you're lovin' someone else
You're so fine, yeah you're so fine
You are a fine healthy thing, let me love you all the time

Shouldn't you be practicing the harmonica Larry instead of chaffing the forum :)

@iceman

Look at YOUR post count, upper left side by your screen name-lol!!!

There have indeed been a lot of "filler" posts lately, and I have contributed to them personally. There have also been an astounding amount of "filler" THREADS as well. The two tend to go hand-in-hand unfortunately.

I'm guilty. I posted this OT a week or so ago and it dropped to the bottom of the list to disappear completely. I don't know why no-one commented, it's the funniest thing I've seen for ages. A musicless music video. Dancing in the Street. PMSL when Bowie makes his entrance.

tookatooka - I did see your video and thought it was very funny. Plus I was able to show a new 'Internet thing' to my kids, normally it's the other way round.

Threads need contrast - Folks who are more comfortable around boring people may disagree...

They used to be called "squares"

Even humor challenged folk can clap on the 2 & 4 even if it is out of time :)

We've also had a couple fairly heated threads lately. Anthropologically speaking you can make comparisons to great apes... when a great ape troupe has so excitement, whether it's the alpha ape banging around making noise and shoving people, or some other tribe infringing on their borders, after the excitement is over, the troupe spends time grooming and reconnecting to make sure everyone is okay and reestablish bonds that may have been damaged in the frakas.

In the real world, we humans have similar rituals, although on the internet, sometimes they are harder to carry out.

Cheers. :)

CarlA... I'm not sure. I'd be worried that it might be possible to transmit Lyme Disease eating ticks. (Man, it seems half my neighbors have it).

Mmmmmm..after 20+ years of internet Harp lists and Forums what isn't 'Filler'? Every aspect of harmonica playing..acoustic,amped ,embouchure ,gapping,ad infinitum..you name it(or google it) it HAS been discussed before.
Until a (let's be Frank here) rather unique personality entered our world with a different take on things.
We need Filler because everything else in is the 'archives' so to speak.
Ok how many of you keep your mike cables in the freezer..it realigns the polarity and helps the flow of electrons giving you a few Db boost in output.
I've heard rumours that L/W was seen to do this and earned the sobriquet of 'Cool hand Juke'

Hi-- I'm new to harmonica. Just wondering-- are plastic or wood combs the best? Should I learn tongue blocking or lip pursing? Are tube amps or solid state amps best for harmonica? What's best, chromatic harmonicas or diatonic harmonicas? How do I learn to play Juke, by Little Walter? Who is the best harmonica player in the world? What is all this about overblowing? I have a feeling I've been underblowing. Where do I get this "Fender Bassman" amp I've been hearing about? Will I be ready for stage in three months? Anyways, that's all I can think of right now. I'll look for your answers tomorrow, and thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Yep, a virtual community is filled with chatter just like the real world. When you go to your local pub, café, park, Biergarten, etc. people fill the time with "filler" ... like talking about the weather, or sports teams, or where to shop for something. Its the same here, which is probably an indication of a strong sense of community.

Its a rainy morning here in Paris... maybe it will clear up this afternoon. I've gotta get around to cleaning and gapping that problematic Db harp. By the way, does anyone know....

@wolf- Wood. Both. Tube. Diatonic, with some exceptions. Just blow! Frank. Nothing more than regular bending, really. You're prolly right. The 'for sale' thread. Yup.

Posts only count - when what you contribute makes a significance difference is a child's life, gives hope to a lonely fellow peer or somehow helps save the ozone from destroying our planet - sorry, try again...

Of my 4 million posts only 1 or possibly 2 have been actually counted :)

I agree with Frank! Your posts should have as much of an impact as the 1980's "We are the world" song/video. Posts on MBH should really work towards world peace, or the Nobel prize, otherwise, the are just........words!
