My remarks might be an annoying lecture to you in turn, Iceman, but I was just responding to a longish squib you issued toward me. I mean no insult, merely stating a tendency I recognize. Lets leave it at that, hmm?

I have been espoused twice in my life. One was judicious and one was ministered. This conversation has lasted longer than both. We all keep in touch. Isn't that what matters?

There is no shame in taking responsibility for advancing ones own knowledge, nor in self-doubt.
Both conditions are present in many high achievers

What kudzurunner said--groove, tone, and (for blues players) blues tonality.
Also what Kingley said-- ability to play in the service of the song.
The blues tonality skill-- aiming for, and precisely getting, notes that exist in the cracks between the piano keys, especially the "blue thirds" in their infinite variety, some sharper, some flatter than any pure European note.
Playing in the service of the song-- making a song sound better for having your harmonica added to it. Helping the singer convey the message in the lyrics.
I put myself in a good, not great, harmonica player category and am content to be there.
