The Blues Doctors are going into the studio this summer to record a couple of sides, and although I initially assumed that I would sell the result as a digital download, I'm now thinking, at least provisionally, of releasing it as an old-fashioned 7" vinyl single--a 45 rpm, two-sided record. The way things used to be.
Has anybody here done that? Or do you know a blues act, or other pop music act, that has done that? It's fairly expensive, as gimmicks go. 500 records cost about $700. What do new 45s sell for these days?
United Record Pressing in Nashville looks like a great bet, if we do this:

Love this idea! Fav way to listen blues.
When you buy vinyl on Amazon, you get the digital version free. So please include the digital version with the platter.
EDIT: Oops - wrong thread? Just wanted to include my vote as an active vinyl listener.

Vinyl has to be mastered on a record-cutting lathe, and then pressed in a special machine. I'm GUESSING that it is probably very expensive. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg

King James and the Special Men in NOLA have a few out. I was at BJ's where they gig on Monday Nights a couple weeks ago. I think they were selling for ten bucks. Their website may have more info.

Went to my local record store, and the country section got smaller! Owner said nobody is bringing in the country stuff anymore. I think I'm in the wrong hood. Was looking for Ernest Tubb. :(
@Greg I saw The Tonight Show, and Jimmy said Neil Young and Jack White would be on next week. Neil Young will perform a song, and Jack White has some kind of contraption that will cut a record live during the performance. I'm gonna try and watch it.
