I have yet to listen to this. But want to comment that I worked out the melody of this song. It can be played in 6th position (root is 3b), start on 1-4d. The song's melody is Locrian mode (minus the 5th of the scale). Neil plays this with and without harp. The harp part I heard Neil play on another YT video is a counter-melody in first position.

If it's missing the 5th degree of the scale, how can you tell that the song is in Locrian mode? The 5th degree is the note that distinguishes Locrian from Phrygian.
If it's in 6th, the mode is determined by the notes actually played, not by the default mode of the position. ---------- Winslow Find out about the 2014 Spring Harmonica Collective! @Winslow, thanks, I won't fight about what scale the melody uses. I was really just wanting to point out that it lays out nicely in 6th position, which I found to be unusual and interesting (to me).
@Frank, nice find. Great song. ----------

It's true that you can use 6th position nicely if the fifth degree isn't an issue (either because it's absent or the flatted fifth works in the tune, or because you can overblow or otherwise alter the scale to create a perfect fifth). Jon Gindick teaches 6th as a viable blues position. ---------- Winslow Find out about the 2014 Spring Harmonica Collective!
