Really nice to see/hear--saying that as a guy who's seen G. Love more than a few times, going back like 20 years now (note: i'm old, gah). He used to be very sloppy when he went to blow a few chords on the rack (or a few of those bad Dylan-esque notes), but it worked with the groove. It was fun. And it was harp, right?
But that--that was much better, to me, musically. Simple, harking back to his stripped down, early stuff, and solid for what it was.
@FatJesus: "He used to be very sloppy when he went to blow a few chords on the rack" - Yeah, I remember them days too! I first came across G. Love back in the '90's ("Cold Beverages" era), and dug the vibe. I didn't yet play harp back then, so I didn't know what was what. But clearly he's been working on it, and I've been VERY impressed with his solo stuff lately, Here's a great set of Blog posts he's written about his experience in the music Biz, and his Blues hero's: http://www.guitarworld.com/user/152715
Never followed his music, but impressed with this. He has nice tone and a good throat vibrato. Already better than Dylan on the harp.... ---------- *************************************************** /Greg
Isaac! Thanks for bringing me back to G. I learnt of him years back now... Then I guess kinda forgot... I sure betcha John Hammond would sure dig 'bad girl baby blues' Cheers. Mike
