Now that this amp has been out for a while, I am asking those who own one to post a brief review. What are the amps strengths and weaknesses (if any)? Is it loud enough for a jam or gig? How does it sound using the line out? What is the difference between cathode bias and adjustable fixed bias, and how does each affect the sound?
Does the 20 watt option with 10" Lil Buddy speaker make a difference, and is the option worth the extra cost?

Finally, are you happy with your purchase, and is there anything you would do (or buy) differently?

Thank you very much.

John, I have one and it is awesome. The tone is warm with a soft crunch. It is not a buzz-box with exaggerated distortion. It has a natural blues harp tone.

Strengths -- Great tone, small size and low weight, fantastic build quality.

Weaknesses -- It's a 15-20 watt amp, so it can't hang with the crazies on a jam stage unless you use the line out.

-Is it loud enough for a jam or gig? Yes. I've played mine without the line out on several stages.

-How does it sound using the line out? A lot depends on the settings in the mixer channel. It always sounds terrific when I play it at Ziggies. PAs tend to be bright so I roll off the highs and mids a bit and boost the lows a little. I send just a bit to the monitors and nothing to the effects send. I always play it without any pedals.

-What is the difference between cathode and fixed bias? Well... I am going to strongly recommend the least expensive basic model: Cathode biased. There are differences in the tone between the two, but honestly I dig the the base model so much I can't see adding anything to it.

-Does the 20 watt option ... make a difference, is it worth the extra cost? In a word, No.

-Am I happy with the amp? Very.

The base DS amp with the Lil Buddy speaker is only $769. It is an amazing value for the quality and tone you get in the amp.

Here is a video of Nic Clark playing my Delta Sonic.

Full disclosure: I had something to do with the design and development of the DS amp, but I don't make a dime if you decide to buy one. I recommend it strongly because it is such a great sounding and versatile amp. If it weren't, I would not associate myself with it.
