Anyone use one? I really want one, but am probably more likely to use something else. They go $250-400 used lots of times, but I am really wondering what other mics you guys have found to sound similar.

Think of how Levy and Michalek have used it - not fully cupped but with hands around it...not playing it from several inches back. Thanks!

Hey Mike,

I use a Sennheiser 441. I've found it to be excellent, in fact "better" for harmonica than some of the premium mics like the Neumann U87, AKG 414 when I got to try those a few years ago. There's no way I'd part with it, though, as it's so good and it took me long enough to get it!

Otherwise, I would use an Audix Fireball for live or recorded work. It's a different mic in many ways. Some of the clean tracks and videos on this reverbnation use the 441, including Cuchuflos Jig.
