Great question. I think that at least 10 minutes is a good idea. I've found over the years that I play noticeably better on the first few songs if I've spent 15-20 minutes in the hotel room before coming near the venue.

10-20 minutes here. This includes vocals. I do this about an hour before show time. Plus I do at least one run through on my favorite tune after we're plugged in and ready to go to blow off some steam. As a band, we do 1 or 2 sound check tunes. ---------- I'm workin on it. I'm workin on it.

I do lip trills through a song or two for singing while driving in the car.

I'll play for about 5 minutes before the show, mostly scales and jumps.
