I have a computer that will at least handle a webcam doing 720 HD. However, whenever I post something, the picture quality is awful.
In addition, the audio is very compressed compared to the sound in real time or playback from my hard drive.
Any help???? I just want to get a good picture and audio for doing online demos from home - I am not worried about recording gigs like this, just tutorials.

This won't help, but I gave up on YouTube and switched to Vimeo. Vimeo is dead simple, high quality, with a cool little app. You don't get the YouTube community, but you get everything else.

But can't you combine the two or something? Or is that VEVO and something else entirely?
All I know is that playback from my hard drive is great and then YT compression of audio and video destroys the vibe, lol.
On my end, I know I need some better lighting, though. I have a Galaxy S4, iPad 2, and HD Webcam I can use to record. I can't figure out how to get my DAW, Mackie Blackjack, or H4N to work for audio properly.
For example, if I use the Blackjack with the web cam, the audio is only left channel mono. Neither are easier to combine with the iPad or S4.

I got a warning from Vimeo that my lighting was too low to convert to HD, so maybe that's it. I was pretty surprised to get the warning, but also appreciative. I was using my iPad mini, and the warning popped up when I uploaded.

I have watched your Rock Harp video #Harpninja and the default setting on YT was 360p. I could have put it up to 480p if I wanted but it didn't make a great deal of difference. The quality is fine, better than a lot I see. When you first upload to YouTube, the quality may be poor for an hour or so before it settles down. From a students viewpoint, the video is fine, the sound could be better but is perfectly acceptable.

Argh!
I figured out how to hook my Zoom H4N as a USB mic, and found a webcam setting that didn't crap out...when I try HD, my computer can't handle it and gets glitch. Dang it!
So I do a sound check, and now I have this weird warbly disortion at random points. It is not an intentional wah effect.
Why is this so complicated! ---------- Mike My Website My Harmonica Effects Blog Rock Harmonica Lessons
