hi im medium level at 1 getting reed straight and going into reed slot evenly---2 setting distance of reed from plate-to ob and [od 7] [ so that it will still play well regularly]--very good at replacing individual reeds as ive destroyed many being impatient-'screws'-- i can ob 6 easily on almost all harps set up or not--[TO SET UP 5 is tuff for me]-- about 1/2 my harps will 7 od---but have question IS IT ALWAYS A HARD DRAW [ MEANING STRONG] TO GET DRAW REED TO CLOSE AND BLOW REED TO COME DOWN?------ DO STAGE 3 SPEIRS HARPS [OD 7]EASILY ? AS EASY AS [DRAW BENDING HOLES 2346? OR IS IT STILL fairlY STRONG BEND?---any way trying t put more stuff for critique so heres my first 'ruff cut' 'different version' of 'room to move' some parts good some 'not so good' did one poor quality ob on 6 for the heck of it--made this 2 years ago and have improved a fair bit with lots drills and practice--anyway check it out and rip me apart hi im medium level at 1 getting reed straight and going into reed slot evenly---2 setting distance of reed from plate-to ob and [od 7] [ so that it will still play well regularly]--very good at replacing individual reeds as ive destroyed many being impatient-'screws'-- i can ob 6 easily on almost all harps set up or not--[TO SET UP 5 is tuff for me]-- about 1/2 my harps will 7 od---but have question IS IT ALWAYS A HARD DRAW [ MEANING STRONG] TO GET DRAW REED TO CLOSE AND BLOW REED TO COME DOWN?------ DO STAGE 3 SPEIRS HARPS [OD 7]EASILY ? yes Joe's stage 3's od7 about as easily as getting all the good clean semi tones on the 3 draw on a well set up harp (which btw is not that easy!). He will also do the stage II and for a few extra $ get the 7 od stable and easy, then you have 456 ob, and 7 od. In addition you get a very evenly playing harmonica from top to bottom with no air leaks....

HEY BOB!

Looks like you were having trouble with your post there. Maybe this will help a little?

Harp set up is important....mainly gapping. 7 od is a great note to have for sure. Like Walter said, it should be easy. No straining, no popping it as some like to say.
IMHO...some players learn to sound the overdraw or overblow and they think they are "there". It takes a lot of practice to get it to sound, play, and feel, like just another note.
Also IMHO..if you can't get it easily on a stock harp that has been gapped, your technique lacks and a custom won't help that much.

I'd have to say that if you've improved a fair bit from when this was recorded, then you may be a force of nature by now. The fast tempo of this track, and your navigation of it and the harp seem pretty impressive to me. Not perfect, as I'm always pretty certain of saying, but pretty darn impressive. Nice work. Maybe something more current, too?

As for the 7OD, I find, and I'm no harp tech by any means, that it's harder for me to get the gap just right than for the over blows. Takes me more time, more fiddling with the reed, more precision. But I can get it working pretty good on most harps. If you do get it working to your liking, you might next try the 9OD, another great note to have.
