I have the chance to get one for a good price. Just want some opinions and this is the best place for harp mic opinion. I have a Shure bullet with a 99b86 cm right now.

I've got a couple of em, one mint, the other looks like its been kicked around the floors of a hundred clubs. Both of them work fine. You'll need the right cable or a retrofit. They're not a bad for a gritty overdriven sound, and they look very stylish, but they weigh a ton. I always go back to a cm. Not a bad one for a collector. ---------- Lucky Lester

I don't have one right now but have used them off and on for more years than I can remember.
they are very tough. but as far as weighing a ton I don't think they do at all. the cable is quite common although they are low impedance.
I loved this mike but I like an on/off switch

The Electrovoice 630 is very similar to the 635 (not the the 635A) and is a bullet mic. Pretty much the same specs.
The closest to the 630 in frequency response is the EV 638 (70-10,000 cps) vs. EV 630 (60-11,000 cps) frequency response.
The 638 is more readily available and at a more reasonable price. The EV 641 is the same as a 638, but weighs less because it has a partial plastic housing. It also has an on-off switch.
The 630, 635, and 638 are heavy, about a pound each because of the zinc shell and chrome finish.
I have a 638 - Hi-Z. It is a very strong mic, great bottom end.

you are absolutely right. I still have one of these I don't know how I forgot. I haven't used it in years.
it was used in the news booth at an old radio station I worked for. not the best mike for a booth but good for harmonica. I used the 635a so much every single day that I forgot about the 635.
we used to order the 635a by he box full but nobody bothered to use the a when they talked about

atty1chgo, is your weight estimate with or without the pistolgrip assembly?
My 630 still has its pistolgrip. It's heavy, but oddly enough it's heavy in a comfortable way. And I love the on/off switch. Mine is still wired for low-Z with an XLR male cable, so I use an inline impedance transformer with it. But I love that the 630 CAN be wired alternately between hi and low Z, just like the 545SD.

Jacketman - what is a good price ? I have a 635 in mint condition. It is a tad heavy but not terribly. It does have some good break up, but would guess every element is different. It is very hot. They are not really scarce. I paid $100.00 for mine. It makes a cool collectable, would use it as a second to my other mics.

Squiers are kind of underrated these days. What's it worth to you? ----------

I was gonna sell it for 75. And if I don't like the mic I can turn around and sell or trade it.

Did you try the mic. The MIJ Squire is held in higher reguard I believe. Trades are tricky...BN

It depends on what kind of Squire it is. Some are better than others. I have a 630 that sounds OK but I rarely use it, and never when playing out. I also have a Standard Squire that I would not trade for that mic. I may consider an Affinity Squire though. Do you plan to use the mic all the time or is it just something you would use on occasion?

Its a squire bullet series. I would use the mic occasionally and maybe for vocals to look cool.
