If you were given $1000, and it to be spent on something harp related, what would it be? I think I would use it to go to Jon Gindick's jam camp.

Ultimate 545, and maybe an amp? (I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a 545 in the very near future. I keep thinking that if I just saved up a little more I could get one of the wooden bullet mics, and then I want a new grill and engraving...
I'm also fixing up a couple cases right now, and I've got a couple mods I want to make to my amp. I'd have a lot more fun with $5000. :)
About half my harp projects are more invention ideas. I'm trying to teach myself CAD. There is a place nearby you can use 3D printers cheap and if I could get a few kinks worked out maybe I could make enough money to support my harp habit a little more fully.

Y'all loopy or something?
I.....would get an MB30s, and a Spiers stage three Marine Band, both in the key of A. I could really do some direct comparison study of the two marvellous harmonicas. Is it just me? Michael

I haven't been playing long enough to warrant putting $1000 into equipment.
Gindick's camp sounds good. Or maybe I would go to David Barrett's harmonica Masterclass for two consecutive years.

I'd use it to go to the 2014 SPA convention in St.Louis ( I'm going anyway, but an extra grand would surely help.-Greg

If I were given $1000 specifically limited to harmonica related spending, I would probably indulge myself in attending The Harmonica Collective again this year. Although it was not inexpensive, it was a fantastic gathering of serious harp enthusiasts, with an amazing teaching staff. The limited number of students made for a quality harmonica experience. Learning and associating with the group of attendees and the instructors was intense. I am still digesting all the information from last year.
I limit myself to using money earned by gigs or earned by running sound and/or providing my PA for small acts in order to pay for harmonica related expenses. I have adequate income to manage day to day living, so I use only gig money for harp related purchases and activities.
I have already saved up for HarmoniCollege III in April, and I have most of what I will need for SPAH 2014 in August. I would use any leftover money from the gift of $1000 after attending The Harmonica Collective to pick up more of my SPAH 2014 expenses. But by August, I should have more than enough for SPAH without the $1000.
The next year in 2015, if SPAH is more distant/expensive I might go to the Collective instead of SPAH. But with SPAH in St. Louis again in 2014, I will be there!
I spend my gig money on harmonica events because presently I have accumulated more mics, amps, and harps than I am likely to need for years, so I am not buying gear. I know what sounds I want for my playing, and I have the gear to produce any sound I might want within my capability. My own technique is the only limitation. Eventually I will need to repair or replace some harps, but no need now.
I really enjoy associating with serious harmonica enthusiasts and hearing how they use the instrument to make their own music in many different genres. I enjoy a jam where you hear the same song produce many interesting and diverse solos.

I worry less about using an amp these days as I play a lot direct into a PA. If I want to though I have the Lone Wolf Harp Attack and a VHT Special 6 to give me an amped sound. So if it had to be harp related, then for me it'd be a bunch of Joe Spiers harps.

Truth be told, I have sufficient gear for my level and the gigs I do. But a couple of Session Steels and an Ultimate57 would be ordered. With the $600 or so remaining, I would find a competent harp teacher nearest me and take however many lessons my cash would get me. Nothing can replace in person instruction to get you to shore up weak spots and challenge you. Short of that, I would figure out how skype works and do some lessons that way. ---------- You Tube = goshinjk

Harp Amp. I dream of extra hi quality light 1x6 amp for travelling (custom champ). Or small acoustic amp (active monitor?) like Acoustic Image or Phil Jones or AER to monitor my acoustic tone. Possible harpcommander. ---------- Excuse my bad English.
