Winslow should know. I took him to this particular concert tour show at Pine Knob back in 97 or so. It was the same week as SPAH.
We ended up back stage at the end of the show in a long line of people who wanted to meet Kenny Loggins. He was looking bored shaking hands. The security was really rushing the people through.
You should have seen the look on Kenny's face when we told him we weren't there to see him, but to visit with Howard. ---------- The Iceman

It was definitely Howard, not Norton for anything Kenny did during this period (mid-1990s).
Howard was part of Kenny's touring band at the time. The time Iceman and I saw them in Detroit was, I think, more like 1995. A year or two later I saw them in the San Francisco Bay Area. They were in town for a few days and I took Howard to meet Will Scarlett. ---------- Winslow

For ay doubters, consider the fact that the solo is played in 12th position with a 6 overblow - something that Norton never did. ---------- Winslow

I thought 12th but not confident enough to say it. Thanks Winslow.

Norton did work with Kenny. Most outstanding is his beautiful chromatic work on Kenny's solo project "December" recording - some of the most beautiful playing ever recorded. ---------- The Iceman

IMO, one of the great diatonic solos ever recorded. In the same vein, the Howard solo on Paul Glasse's record, 'Both Sides Of It' is from around the same time and is similarly beautiful. This was when I first started listening to Howard. I'll always be a fan of his relentless pursuit of virtoustic harmonica musicianship, but this is my favorite Howard era because of the melodocism of his approach

I concur w/Rosco...
Early Howard was much more accessible to my ears. He did some nice session work w/Holly Cole, Canadian songstress, too. ---------- The Iceman
