I bought one when they first came out.Only available in C and despite the hokey tin can it came with it is a great Harp.
Lets face it you can play a shitload of blues on just holes 1-6.
So now they have come out with all the popular keys in the same format.(at double the price of the original one)
The thing is that they are just so easy to 'cup'.
I have reasonably big hands and a decent cup on standard ten holers but i can hear an audible difference between my compresion and proximity effect,(using a C/M) with the small
Seydel compared to a standard sized diatonic.
I've just ordered two of the new ones A and Bb.
Anyone else using them them?

I bought a C a couple of years ago. I like the sound, and as you say, easy to cup. Sometimes I forget I own it. If they were priced more attractively I would probably buy a few more. I agree that you can play a lot of blues on the first six holes but I would probably get into bad habits if I used the Big sixes more. I need to expand my range not limit it! :)

I bought one back in 08. Took the strap off and hook on a key chain clip. Wear it every day on a belt loop. I always blow my whistle at Walmart. They open a new check out just to get me outta there. Kids always love it. Oh yes it cups easy and blows all the blues you want. actually been called up on stages with it.

I bought one for my wife (she thinks they're "cute") and then a couple for myself at SPAH. The Seydel booth was selling the, at a VERY reasonable price. They do sound good and play well.

i have one, i find it harder to cup because it is smaller. the 1847 is too large the seydel six is too small.

i wish they would make one the same size as a marine band! i am not holding my breath.................. "poor breath control"

you can always tell a german......but you can't tell him much

The Big 6 is also nicely airtight, as the surface contact area between reedplates and comb is smaller than on a 10-hole. I played them at the Seydel booth at the SPAH convention in 2012 and was pleasantly impressed by their quality. But I use use as many holes as I can get.

i'd like one as a curiosity, but like Winslow- i NEED all ten holes. i'd be lost without 7 blow and 9 and 10 blow bends.

Speaking of little harps. I love the Hohner Little Lady.
i need to get another cuz i always give them away to girls. you can play 1 and 3rd on them.
Warning- don't get the cheaper chinese mini Hohner in the silk box. it's junk. Go for the original Little Lady (hand made in Germany). This is the harp that Wally Shirra took into space around is neck and played a Xmas song.

I want a customized Hohner Puck. All ten holes, and even smaller than a Big Six.

(It's also got a clever screwless cover set. Maybe not as fun to play with as my magnet covers, but still easy to take apart.

I love the Big Sixes. I have 5 of them (G, A, Bb, C, D). I have long narrow hands, and I can get a tight cup with these that I can't get with an 1847 or a Session Steel. I'd love to try a Big Six with full-length cover plates (like a Session/Favorite).

I have the wooden one in C with "blues tuning". It plays great and is much easier to get an airtight cup with a bullet mic. Also, playing acoustically I can get more pronounced hand effects for the same reason. Its fun to play. I cut down a Seydel leather case to fit it, and often carry it in my pocket.

I use it on 1 or 2 songs at most gigs. We often do an encore at the end of the night with a cover of Crossroads, where the Big Six comes out and volume knob on my amp gets nudged a little higher than usual :-)

I'm very happy with my high Big Sixes in D and F, because of short reeds. I have for fun Big Six in the key of HighC! Also wish to get myself all complete line from D to HighDb. Unfortunately they are available only through configurator and relatively expensive even for me.

I already made thread about high big sixes
