What are some songs featuring bass or chord harmonica? The only ones I can think of are Wouldn't It Be Nice by The Beach Boys, and Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite. Are there any other well known songs that have bass harmonica in them?

From the Beach Boys: I Know There's An Answer on Pet Sounds and several cuts on the Smile album. All played by Tommy Morgan.

From the Beatles, Fool on the Hill.

Jason Ricci and Todd "Buckweed" Edmunds used chord and bass respectively on some of the cuts of Rocket No. 9, but I can't say which ones off the top of my head.

if you ever catch reruns of the 1960s sitcom Green Acres, bass harmonica was featured in the theme song.

Of course, the Harmonicats' recording of Peg O' My Heart sold something like 7 million copies. Would that count as well known?

I really wasn't talking about stuff like the Harmonicats', but that information about Rocket No. 9 was really helpful. I've been meaning to pick up a copy of it for awhile, and that just made it jump up to the top of my next albums to buy list.

Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer". I believe it was Charlie McCoy.

Well you should. They were perhaps the most successful harmonica artists of all time and should be an inspiration to aspiring harp players everywhere.

Winslow, it's funny, as a kid I listened to Beatles records over and over, but most of it is on vinyl or cassette, so I listen less these days. As a kid, I didn't have the ear to spot harmonica, but as soon as you said 'Fool on the Hill'... it's funny how our brain can hold on to so much unsorted information!

Was it bass harmonica in the Addams Family theme?

I got the Susquehanna Hat Company CD. It's a really fun listen. Kind of the Decemberists meet They Might be Giants.
