I had one that was great, especially for $8. Dunno what happened to it. Maybe I have it to a kid. Or maybe it broke. But generally, it's roulette with those harps. Maybe 1 in 10 is pretty good. No, I have no idea of the numbers. I only ever bought that one, so I could attend a workshop at short notice. But I think they come out the same factory as Johnson harps. It's tough I reckon, trying to save money. I've been there, but in the end, I found hohner handmade and some MS harps do the job and every cent I ever spent on cheap harps and lower grade hohner harps was money wasted. The old huang silver tones were the best cheapies I ever had, and the Suzuki folkmasters actually, to be fair, were quite ok. With some gapping. ----------

Yeah I'm with the 'bee on this.I once was asked to sit in with a band for their gig the next day.We were away from home so I had none of my Lee/hohners with me Went to the local music store(in Byron Bay 'Bee) and bought a set of Johnsons (6) 2 were almost unplayable,3 did the job but the one in A(thank god) was brilliant,I ended up using it as a gig harp until it finally gave out. So yeah cheap harps are a bit of a crap shoot for sure. Mind you I think that the worst 'cheap' harps are the Hohner Bluebands in that they sell on their name and just don't deliver whats promised.

Jambones are an excellent value purchase for passing them out at events or maybe for practice harps. I bought a full set of them a few years ago at the recommendation of a local musician. I had just started delving seriously into harp, and I tried them for a while, but I went back to my Marine Bands not long after. I've pretty much cannibalized most of them for screws, combs and coverplates since they match up pretty well with SP20's. ----------

they do seem be identical to johnsons, but johnsons play better....just used them as practice harps in the past but since old marine bands(Hicksville)are available on ebay I have been practicing on them instead.....they are far superior...
