"Mick is a harp master, why did'nt he play it himself - I'm confused, you sure it's not him, are you saying he is not good enough to have played that?"

That's about what I'm saying. Sugar Blue gets after it.

According to Wikipaedia and the man himself, they almost had Paul Jones ( ex Manfred Man currently playing with The Blues Band ) who is chair of the National harmonica League here in the UK. Brian Jones apparently approached him to join the his new band. Paul Jones declined and the rest as they say is history.

I think people would agree that Jagger has great natural tone. Becasue he has been naturally blessed with a cavernous mouth catvity and a great singing voice and ability. In his earlier years, I think his tone was much better. I don't think that is the case now - but, of course, he is older and likley long gave up the harp as an instrument. His focus shifted to singing and song-writing not playing harp. But I got nothing but respect for Jaggar who is in a league of his own. He honored and respected the originators, Muddy Waters and Howlin's Wolf. There is a great scene in the Howlin Wolk Documentary, it's a poignant scene, where Jagger and his bandmate practically beg the host to have Howlin Wolf be put on the show. He also readily and blatantly admitted that Littel Red Rooster and other songs were not his songs.
