tips for avoiding mic noise during spaces in playing ?
You know those handling noises during spaces between notes. I have listened to our band recordings and its not really as bad live but it annoys me while practicing solo.
I usually use a sm545 thru relatively clean amp. gotta be something i can do to improve this in my technique

I've used 545's and SM57's a lot and never have issues with handling noise. Maybe it's the way you're holding the mic?

One option which may help, would be to use a Bulletizer from www.blowsmeaway.com

Maybe you are involuntarily rotating the top of the mic.
