Hi guys,
my first topic here, but I've been following you for a while.
Got a Magnatone Varsity 197 from the US (I live in Norway)..eBay you know. Planning to use it as a harp amp...I'm mostly a guitarman.
Has anyone any experience with this one ?
I got it yesterday, but have to have a tech look over it and get it 3 prong. And of course get a stepdown transformer from 230v to 110.
(Just had to get this one since it's MOTS green, same as my Magnatone lap slide guitar..1955)

I've used one and this amp is very popular with guitar players because they had the first and best vibrato units (too often tremolo and vibrato are used interchangeably but they're TOTALLY different things as vibrato requires pitch changes of about 1/4 step and tremolo is essentially speed of volume going on and off). I dug these for chromatic as a way to imitate a Leslie unit.

The Maggie Varsity is a nice little amp that should work well for harp. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the true pitch-shifting vibrato that Magnatones are famous for, but a good amp anyway.
